El estadio Santiago Bernabéu

The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is one of the most impressive sporting arenas in Europe; construction on this tribute to the football world began in October 1944, and ran up a total cost of €288,342,653.72. It was originally designed to hold up to 75,145 people but now has  a current capacity of over 80,000. The stadium is owned by and home to Real Madrid C.F. And the stadium’s first goal was scored by Sabino Barinaga Alberdi , what a truly great way to be remembered, as the first player to ever score in The Santiago Bernabéu.

The tour of the stadium is fantastic; you get to see the dressing room, Royal box, the player’s tunnel, trophy room, managers bench, and of course the pitch, and all this begins with a stunning panoramic  view of the stadium and ends at the souvenir shop. Tours can even be taken on match days anywhere up to 5 hours before the game. On training days there is a possibility of cancellation, but if this happens you will be informed well in advance of taking the tour.

The price of the tour is only €9 and so for anyone with an interest in sports it’s definitely worth a look; it is without a doubt an impressive sight. Traveling to and from the stadium is very easy with access via the bus or metro system and with extra transport provided on match days. Tickets for the matches are also readily available depending on the game, and touts are always selling outside but for a high price, so I would recommend buying your tickets from a legitimate vendor.

Check it out during your stay!
