Enjoying good food and wine

One of the greatest pleasures to be enjoyed when visiting foreign lands is food as well as drink. Through the food and drink of an area one  can tell a lot about its culture and background. Madrid is no exception, a city rich in culture and art, this European capital is also well-known for its magnificent eateries and watering holes.

A recent addition to the many bars that pepper the streets of the capital is Vinoteca Moratín, something like a library for good wine. This welcoming bar is situated very close to the old town of Madrid, in Moratín, 36, near the underground station of Antón Martín. This area is well known for its countless bars and cafés.

Vinoteca Moratín has also a long menu that includes fish, meat and vegetables. All the dishes are prepared using the best ingredients and lots of imagination and innovation, that transform their restaurant dishes into something really special.

This venue is interesting but does not pretend to be something it´s not. It´s a simple space with only three people working in it at any one time, two in the kitchen and one serving the tables and looking after the customers.

Another advantage is that Vinoteca Moratín is situated very close to the very core of the city, the Puerta del Sol. Around this world-famous square you will have the opportunity to try many of the local tapas bars. The night starts late in Madrid, dinner can be any time from 8.30 till nearly midnight, and after that you will find a number of bars filled to the brim with party-goers enjoying themselves.

One of the favourites around Sol is Plaza de Santa Ana. This square is a nice spot especially during the summer months, when you can sit outside while sharing a good drink and some tapas with your friends.
