Summer and terrace go hand in hand in Madrid. And when it starts to get really hot, there’s nothing better than a lovely terrace and a cold beer or fresh cocktail to combat the heat. Here are four suggestions for terraces where you can enjoy a fantastic sunset in Madrid with your friends or your partner.

La Terraza – Florida Retiro

One of the latest additions to the list is an oasis in the heart of Madrid. Located on the rooftop of the El Pabellón restaurant, it is a magical place for enjoying the Madrid night sky in the heart of El Retiro Park. The terrace is a great place for the first drinks of the night and also serves delicious dinners including dishes such as a corvina ceviche with crunchy corn or Piedmont-style rump steak vitello tonnato . Remember that on Mondays and Tuesdays there is a special sushi menu.

Cuisine at San Antón

One of the most cosmopolitan terrace venues on the list is on the rooftop of the San Antón Market. It features four different spaces to suit all tastes: a chill-in area for enjoying snacks and aperitifs, an indoor restaurant serving international cuisine, the skies of San Antón chill-out area, perfect for a refreshing cocktail, and the San Anton greenhouse for smokers.

Arzabal Reina Sofia

This is one of the top attractions of the Arzábal Group and is a tavern with a level of excellence similar to that of the finest restaurants. This is a dynamic and lively restaurant serving both traditional and innovative cuisine. This beautiful outdoor space is great for enjoying a summer dinner at the museum. Start with pan-fried eggs with truffles or crayfish with potatoes in white wine, and continue with a chicken with mashed Royal potatoes and gravy or roast cod with black and white garlic. To end the evening, don’t forget to try one of the delicious desserts such as apple tatin or custard cream with a waffle surprise

Casa Corona

From Tuesday to Sunday until next September 29 you can enjoy the Casa Corona for the fourth consecutive year in the Palacio del Marqués de Casa Riera. This is a great place for a fun summer afternoon with plenty of the famous Corona beer at hand should you need some. The menu has only a few dishes, but all of them are delectable, including Corona-style croaker, salmon and mango tartar, the hummus trio or Corona sandwich. There is also a choice of cultural events such as concerts, photo exhibitions and summer cinema, among others.

Four ideas that are perfect examples of summer terrace culture in Madrid. Which one would you like to try first?
